I will like to introduce a new feature on Crafted Spaces' blog titled; "At Home." Through this new feature I will like to share some of the crafty things that I do in my life. This new feature will therefore focus on the various creative projects that I do in my home and will highlight some personal aspects of my life.
I love incorporating something creative into all things that I do, and my home is a playground for trying new ideas and creative projects. Many of the projects that I feature on Crafted Spaces are one that I have done at home or with my family.
I hope that this new feature will add another dimension to the blog, providing inspiration for how you can incorporate many of the diy projects we post. I also hope that you will enjoy this new component of the blog and will share your comments and feedback.
For my first post in this new feature, I will like to share a link to a previous blog post that I did at Verona Collections blog. The project shows the transformation of my front hall closet and shows a chair that has been recovered using the chair seat recovering technique as shown here.
View Closet Makeover here! This project features the following DIY Project: Recovering a Chair Seat.

Crafty Idea: Decorate Your Sewing Machine Carrying Case
Your basic sewing machine carrying case, also known as the "Singer Universal Sewing Machine Case," is perfect for storing your sewing machine. It works especially well with Singer sewing machines and is a white plastic casing. However, the plain white plastic is pretty plain and I thought it would be nice to brighten things up a bit.
This case is great for your free arm sewing machines and can be found at a number of places including your local sewing store or online at Amazon. However, another great place to try will be Walmart, for about $35.00.
The room decor self-adhesive was fun and easy to use. Just peel the image off of its backing, put in place and rub from the centre working outward to the edges. I found my "homedeco" image at the dollar store and paid just $2.00. What do you think?

Book Review: Made by Me
Made by Me - Jane Bull
I recently gave a little friend of mine this book as a gift. I love the wonderful collection of projects and the full colour step-by-step instructions. There are lots of projects to keep the reader entertained. The book teaches basic sewing, knitting and embroidery skills, and each project compliments each other.
One of my favourite projects in the book is the cloth dolls. I remember making these when I was a kid and it brought back fond memories. Another favourite of mine is the hand embroidery, which shows you how to take your drawing and turn in into a embroidery or cross-stitch pattern.
If you have a chance to check this book out at the library, you will be happy with the weeks of fun it has to offer. It will make a great gift for the little maker in your life or even a wonderful addition to your own library.

Happy Birthday Crafted Spaces
This post is a long overdue thanks to everyone that have made the pass year possible for Crafted Spaces. It is also a thank you to those that joined us for our one-year birthday celebration in July. The encouragement and support is motivational, and it is always great getting together with friends and family to celebrate over tasty food, refreshing drinks and stimulating conversation.
The pass year has been amazing. It has been a wonderful learning process. It has been full of challenges that have helped to better define Crafted Spaces and our mission. It has been inspiring to connect with so many talented and creative designers, crafters, makers and students. We have been fortunate to have wonderful guest join us on Crafted Spaces Radio, who have shared their knowledge and expertise with us.
I have enjoyed working with my sewing and creative design students, and watching them develop their skills as the weeks progress. I look forward to the new classes for this fall/winter and I'm really excited to share with you all the new projects we will be making.
If you have any questions or feedback, just send me an email at craftedspaces@gmail.com.
Thanks for your ongoing support.
